Latest CMS and ONC “Meaningful Use” Rules Formally Published; ACR Summary Released

On September 4, 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC) published in the Federal Register final rules to update the user and technology requirements of the Medicare/Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.  The pre-publication versions of the final rules have been publicly accessible since August 23.

The American College of Radiology’s Government Relations team recently released a consolidated summary of the final rules.  The document will continue to be updated over time with additional information and other improvements.

Meaningful use will be a key focus of the second annual ACR Imaging Informatics Summit on October 11 in Washington, DC.  The summit will feature speakers from the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT, Food and Drug Administration, and more.  For event information and registration, please visit: http://www.acrinformatics.org/
