Meaningful Use Workgroup Plans for Future Discussions on Specialists and Imaging

On March 8, the HIT Policy Committee’s (HITPC) Meaningful Use (MU) Workgroup held a short web conference to discuss, among other things, a new public hearing on May 13, 2011 on specialist considerations related to meaningful use in Stage 2.  The workgroup had a brief discussion on imaging considerations, both in general and in the context of the future public hearing.  This was the first time this particular HITPC workgroup discussed diagnostic imaging and radiology in any specific terms.

The MU Workgroup also discussed the recent closure of the public comment period in response to its January 18 request for comments.  The Office of the National Coordinator for HIT received approximately 422 submissions this time around.  The ACR’s comment submission is available online.

I had the opportunity to briefly chime in during the open microphone portion of the discussions.  I offered ACR’s assistance in facilitating any future imaging discussions by the committee members.
