ONC HIT Policy Committee Meets; Various Workgroups Present Draft Comments

On April 4, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC) HIT Policy Committee convened for its monthly business meeting.  The focus was on development of the committee’s future comments in response to the March 7 proposed rules to update the EHR Incentive Program.

Various workgroups and tiger teams under the committee have been meeting weekly via webcast/teleconference to discuss portions of the proposed rules that are relevant to their respective areas.  Arguably, the most important piece of this work is that of the Meaningful Use Workgroup, which is responsible for drafting the committee’s comments on the functionality objectives and measures.  The full committee’s April 4 meeting was an opportunity for each of these subgroups to report on the status of their comment development efforts.

Moving forward, the HIT Policy Committee plans to review and approve all comments at the May 2 meeting.
