ONC Announces New HIE Governance Plans

On December 20, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC) published a Health IT Buzz blog entry regarding  future activities related to health information exchange (HIE) governance.  As you may recall, on September 6, ONC announced the decision to not pursue a rulemaking in light of public feedback on a May 15, 2012 Request for Information.

Essentially, ONC’s primary plans involve a funding opportunity for HIE networks, a public hearing on January 29, and publication of HIE guidelines, among other activities.  Please see the original post for more information.
